Maggie's Monster Bike & Hike Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre's flagship fundraising Events Fort William. It is a 24 hour
event along the Great Glen Way and is the biggest and most challenging event to take place on the Way with
around 1000 competitors anticipated in 2008. Participants cycle 30 miles and then choose to walk 8
miles, 23 miles or 40 miles to complete their Monster at either Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
Participants come from all over.

10undertheben An endurance mountain bike Events Fort William. 10 hours of riding a 10 mile course at the
foot of Ben Nevis. The event aims to appeal to a broad range of riders, to be as inclusive as
possible. If you are new to riding you can ride for fun as part of a four person relay team of
friends. If you are expeienced and looking for a challenge - try riding solo! '10undertheben'
combines great riding on the World Cup Witches Trail with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Held at
the Lochaber Rural Complex, it must be one of the few UK mountain bike events with an indoor
base.

Adventure Racing World Championship A 5-day multi-discipline, expedition-style Adventure Race. Mixed teams of four race
unsupported together over a course of up to 250 miles through the magnificence of the Western Highlands of
Scotland. This is the land where history meets adventure. Competitors power themselves through
historic glens and over famous mountain passes, across enchanted lochs and through the undisputed splendour
of this region, carved from the last ice age and uniquely shaped through time by nature and man. The
journey will only involve human powered transport and disciplines including trail running, mountain biking,
canoeing, rope-work, swimming and others. Navigation will be an integral component of this entire
race.

Caledonian Canal Celebration To celebrate the contribution made by the Caledonian canal to local communities and the long
lasting benefits to various types of sailing craft throughout its 200 year history, a week long event on
the entire length of the canal from Corpach/ Banavie, near Fort William to the Muirtown
Basin in Inverness. The event will highlight through song, musical interludes, story telling and
dance the culture of the area, the drama of the navigation of the canal and the many influences on Highland
life. The visual impact of a fleet of around 20 craft, typifying the various types of craft that have
used the canal over the years will leave a lasting impression with spactators, local participants and local
community.
